When deciding what games to run, please keep in mind this Recess' OPTIONAL theme... Back to Old School: A crash course in 1980’s!
Want to save Castle Greyskull from the boney clutches of Skeletor with a 20-sided die, go screaming into the galactic core via that purple Star Frontiers box, or seek out Lovecraftian horrors in the Mystery Machine with a pocketful of Scooby snacks? Of course you fucking do, and so do we!
This special edition of Recess will feature a role-playing game selection in loving tribute to the best games/toys/cartoons of the 1980’s, in addition to all of your favorite 21st century boardgames, card games and RPGs. No matter if you were born into a world of 8-track cassettes or downloading MP3s, Recess: BtOS will get your gamer senses tingling like the first time you scored a critical hit.
You can run any game, modern or classic, or modern games with classic characters and themes (for example, He-Man using D&D 4E).
About running games at Recess:
Game submissions are first come first serve. And we reserve the right to decline submissions.
GMs and Game Refs should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their game time to check in with the Recess staff and get their table assignment and player information.
Signups for games will occur at Recess on the day of the event. Currently we run sign-ups in two waves.
Would you like to run a game but you aren't sure what to run? Please take advantage of our Recess forum and start a thread to discuss your ideas and get feedback. Also, we've provided a Request thread where nerds can talk about games they'd love to play in! Maybe that'll spark some ideas? Check that out here... (coming soon).
The final schedule will be posted on the boards, about a week or so before Recess.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at recess@nerdnyc.com
