NerdNYC Picnic – May 7, 2011

Saturday, May 7th

Sheep Meadow, Central Park, Manhattan

Google Map:

We’ll station ourselves in the lovely Sheep Meadow on the Southern edge of the field, close to the 66th St Traverse. There’s a tree grove close to a few large boulders right by the fence and we’ll be at the treeline.

There are bathrooms near the carousel and ball park to the south of the field. There are no “organized” sports allowed in the field, but if a group feels motivated enough there is the ball field and other fields nearby.

If you’re walking up from the very southern edge of the park from 57th street (from the 57th St F train), the entrance through the fence to Sheep Meadow is left of badminton courts. Enter, hang left and walk along the edge of the field and we’ll be at the bouldery grove more or less in the middle. You can also wander over from Columbus Circle, or the eastern edge of the park if you’re catching the N train.

What is the Nerdnic?

Long ago when Nerdnyc was young, in the months of green grass and fair weather we would gather OUTSIDE! In the sun! To eat picnic food, have fun, and perhaps play games (including those involving running around with balls or disks).

As with all Nerdnyc events, everyone is welcome. No nerdnic experience necessary!

Regarding food, it’s a bring-what-you-want-to-eat affair. Central Park doesn’t allow grilling, and we recommend keeping it simple and avoiding unnecessary waste.

Yay, Nerdnic!

Now with awesome panorama of an ancient nerdnic!
